The low-toned gossip of my glass-housed greens

Floats in often, through my home’s hollow walls

My eager ears strain to hear few kind words

Tales of happy hours in cozy comfort—-

Alas! My pride slumps, in dismay and shock

Somewhere plays a mournful tune of adieu.

Home is those open, vast stretches of green and blue.

There’s calm- the rustling whispers have now stopped,

The talkative birds have long flown away,

The rustic bees have found another home

Tender sprouts no longer nuzzle my neck,

Our souls are silent, now nothing to share-

Great! I am spared of an awkward farewell

I’m in bed, doors shut to reality

I must face a forlorn morn, harsh but true.

Home is those open, vast stretches of green and blue.

I stand there, all the space to myself now

The night so happy with a moonlit smile,

The empty forest is now full of greens

A soft, scented breeze blows to dry my tears,

A little bough peeps in, it’s arms outstretched

But I know, it’ll go back to where it grew

Indeed, home is those open, vast stretches of green and blue.
