Time Travel – Mirrored Refrain

If I were to undertake an adventurous travel- x

With the quickly passing time- a

To discover the ancient or the imminent,- b

It would suit me just fine.- a

 

I might meet my illustrious ancestors -x

Or aliens of a different descent, -b

It would suit me just fine- a

To discover the ancient or the imminent. – b

 

I can learn to work with wood and stones- x

And communicate with sounds and signs -a

To discover the ancient or imminent, -b

It would suit me just fine. – a

 

I will spread wisdom wherever I go- x

And bring back good thoughts permanent, -b

It would suit me just fine – a

To discover the ancient or the imminent. -b

 

I am ready to face every challenge to win- x

Soar high on the wings of time- a

To discover the ancient or imminent- b

It would suit me just fine. -a

Poet’s note: This poetry is of the type ‘Mirrored Refrain.’ The Mirrored Refrain is a rhyming verse form constructed by Stephanie Repnyek. It is formed by three or more quatrains where two lines within the quatrain are the “mirrored refrain” or alternating refrain.

The rhyme scheme is as follows: xaBA, xbAB, xaBA, xbAB, etc..

x represents the only lines that do not rhyme within the poem. A and B represent the refrain.
